Bettin' on Biden

Sen. Joseph Biden of the Foreign Relations Committee will be Barack Obama's running mate. The callow Obie badly needed Joe's gravitas even before Putin crushed Georgia. He needed it even more after that, as Biden's quick trip to Tbilisi would seem to suggest.
And still more after McCain mopped the floor with him at Saddleback last weekend. (By the way, Gloria, thanks for acknowledging that encounter was a blowout, in your second post about it; so much more candid than the puffery in your first post.)
Obama will tap a VP to offset, if possible -- and it may not be possible -- his own glaring inexperience, tentativeness, and flights of New Age fantasy. The older, steadier, time-tested Joe Biden fills the bill. On loquacity two are perfectly matched, except that where the one soars, the other plods. The Illinoisan hypes you on a sugar jag while the Delawarean narcotizes you.
And speaking of which, Dems now will have a better shot at Delaware's three electoral votes. Victory beckons!
